About Claudia:

Credentials

Claudia is a New York State Certified Interior Designer (CID) as well as a NCIDQ Certified Interior Designer.

Awards & recognition

We were honed in 2012 when we were asked to participate in the designer's showhouse Holiday House. The room was well received and in 2013 we received the Envision Design Award for Whole Room Integration. And on August 1st of that same year, the New York Observer published our room on the front page of their home section.

Design Industry Leadership

From 2009-2015 Claudia served on the Board of Directors for the New York Chapter of The International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA), a not-for-profit professional association; and in 2012 Claudia was elected New York Chapter President.  As the Chapter's youngest ever President in IFDA's then 65 year history, Claudia's tenure brought renewed vigor, infectious enthusiasm and a technological upgrade to the New York Chapter by establishing its current digital and social media communication channels; by ushering in a new crop of membership and a restructuring of the Board of Directors; by spearheading The Brainstorm Brunch which was the fountainhead for some of the Chapter's premiere membership events such as its C3 (Cocktails, Conversations and Connections); and by setting the stage for an enormously successful Circle of Excellence Awards 2012 chaired by the inimitable Su Hilty with Simon Doonan and Jonathon Adler as the masters of ceremony and which honored a coterie of the furnishings and design industry's best and brightest.  From 2013-2015 Claudia also served on the Board of Directors for the IFDA International Board.  Claudia is currently a member of the Design Leadership Network (DLN), which is an association of leading professionals in the design industry.

Additional History

Claudia comes from a lineage of builders and developers in the Dominican Republic.  After receiving a double Bachelor's Degree with honors in Advertising and Communications from Syracuse University, Claudia realized her true passion lay in her roots and she determined that interior design and construction would be her life's work.  In 2002 she began her studies in Interior Design at New York Institute of Technology and then at New York School of Interior Design, from which she earned her degree in Interior Design with distinction-- all while working full-time in hospitality design.  Always aspiring for higher degrees of excellence, Claudia moved up the Manhattan echelon of architecture and design firms, where she garnered an array of experience from high-rise residential, to commercial, to restaurant design for an international clientele.  In 2008 Claudia was tapped by a former professor from New York School of Interior Design to formalize the interior design division of the architectural firm where he served as Associate Principal.  Shortly thereafter however, the housing market collapse brought building development to a halt, and contracts were lost or placed on hold, and Claudia's new position was dissolved.

A new chapter began in 2009 when Claudia was awarded first place in a Lobby Design Competition for a prewar residential building on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.  There she was introduced to former assistant Dean of Parsons School of Design and author of numerous books on color, Linda Holtzschue.  Claudia worked under Linda for a number of years, where she gained a working knowledge of the high-end residential design and construction market.  During this period, Claudia was awarded the Tony Torrice Professional Development Grant from International Furnishings and Design Association Educational Foundation.  As she began to amass a growing, referral-based clientele, in 2011 Claudia launched her eponymous interior design firm, Claudia Giselle Design LLC.
